ISLAMABAD:The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Sunday ordered the dismissal of 13 cases against PTI leader Ali Amin Gandapur, who was charged over protests outside the top electoral body and the May 25 "riots".

Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri delivered the verdict on a petition filed by the PTI leader seeking dismissal of the cases against him.

SHOs of 15 police stations of the capital city attended the hearing. They recorded their statements in the case.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the court quashed 13 cases against Gandapur, while in two other cases the PTI leader withdrew his petitions.

The former federal minister for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan affairs has been charged with seven counts of staging a protest before the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) after it disqualified PTI chairman Imran Khan in the Toshakhan reference.

In its October verdict, the ECP disqualified PTI chief Imran Khan under Article 63(1)(p) for willfully submitting false returns and not disclosing donations received from Toshakhana.

The PTI leader was also booked in eight other cases for "rioting" during his party's long march against the government in May this year.
